Doesn't it feel like Spring has finally sprung! What a delight it is to pull back the curtains to greet a sunny morning! If you're anything like me, the warmer weather will have had you foraging through your wardrobe looking for more suitable clothing and thinking that your body could do with a bit of a tone up before it greets the world again. Well, you're in luck as our next meeting on Tuesday 14 April is a session of Chair Yoga with Sally Harper. Sally runs a yoga studio in Nutfield. Chair yoga is suitable for most people, but if you have any particular health concerns, there will be time for you to discuss these with Sally in confidence at the start of the session. It is suggested that you wear something comfortable that you will be able to move easily in. Book your place with the link below or just turn up next Tuesday. |
Like most of our meetings, Chair Yoga will be at Merstham Baptists Church, Weldon Way, Merstham, Redhill RH1 3QA, UK |
The brighter, sunnier days has prompted the Committee to start thinking about plans for the spring and summer months. The Committee are busy making preparations for the Fair season and have purchased a new black gazebo with detachable sides (so that we can be shaded or protected come whatever the weather) and a festival trolley which will help to transport equipment and wares more easily to our pitch. As well as planning to attend our usual All Saints Fair (Sunday 7 June) and Quality Street Fair (Sunday 6 September), we have also booked a pitch at Gatton Fair which is on Sunday 5 July. Pop the dates in your diary and think about whether you might like to come along to help on the stall - it's a lot of fun and usually free entry for stallholders! These fairs are our main fundraising and promotion events, where we raise funds for the Group and hope to attract new members.
With 3 fairs to resource, we are going to need to make a lot of jam this year! Jam Day is on Sunday 10 May and we would welcome any donations of glass jars and frozen fruit, and if you are able to stretch to adding an extra bag of sugar in your shopping trolley one week, that would be really most appreciated. Donations can be brought to the meetings or given to a Committee member. If you would like to come along to Jam Day, please one of the Committee Members know.
The Committee are also making plans to help you make the most of the new season by organising some extra days out. Our first pub outing of 2026 is scheduled for Tuesday 21 April. We're planning to visit some new venues as well as our well loved local establishments, so we are kicking off with a visit to The Red Lion in Bletchingley and will aim to meet at 7.30pm. Anyone who would like to come but needs a lift, please let us know at the next meeting and we will see if we can arrange it. We also hope to arrange some local walks through the beautiful countryside that is on our doorstep.
And who doesn't love a garden visit? In conjunction with the Merstham Horticultural Society, we have arranged a private visit to the South Wind NGS garden in Chaldon for the morning of Friday 3 July. The cost is £10 per head which includes refreshments. We need a minimum number of 10 people for the event to go ahead, so I would encourage you to book your place as soon as possible if you would like to come. Full details have been put onto the website, where you can book and pay. Due to restricted parking, we will also try to coordinate transport. For anyone who is unable to attend the private event, the garden will also be open to the public on Sunday 19 July. |
So ladies, let's embrace the season! Let's plan day trips, make jam, bake cakes, garden and explore the countryside! But most of all, let's enjoy our time together!
